Join us on Sunday 6th December 2026 for our second Tinsel Trot event raising money for St Margaret’s Hospice.
We’ve teamed up again with St Margaret’s hospice to bring you a festive event this Christmas for the whole family. Race HQ will be on Castle Green in Taunton with 2 running races starting from there; a 5k Santa race and a 1k Elf race.
If you’re looking to join us for the Santa race, you’ll be given a Santa hat to run in, if you’re running in the Elf race then you’ll be provided with an elf hat!

The Routes
5k Santa Race
- Starting on Castle Green
- Through Castle Bow, into Fore St and along East St
- Turn around at almshouses, back along East St and down North St
- Over The Bridge and into Wood St and Tangier Way
- Into Castle St and Tower St back across Castle Green
- 2nd lap Fore St, East St, North St, The Bridge Wood St, Tangier Way
- Through Goodlands Gardens into North St
- Up North St, into Castle Bow and the Finish on Castle Green
All runners in the 5k race must be 11 years or older – anyone running this aged under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult (1 adult is permitted to be responsible for a maximum of 2 running children).
5k Santa Race begins at 10:30am
1k Elf Race
- Starting on Castle Green
- Through Castle Bow into North St
- Down North St and over The Bridge
- Turn around at Mailbox and back over The Bridge
- Up North St and into Castle Bow
- Finish on Castle Green
The 1k race is aimed mostly at children. All children under 11 will enter the 1k Elf race and must be accompanied by a responsible adult (1 adult must be responsible for only 1 running child).
